My new pressure washer is hard to start, any suggestions?

I have this pressure washer (Briggs & Stratton 2900PSI ELITE):

Now I realize that I have to "purge" the pressure before each starting attempt (its funny cause I’ve never had to do this on any other gas pw’s I’ve used)…and I do. But it’s still hard to get that engine to go. It takes a lot of choke and throttle "fiddling" before she goes…same deal when doing a warm start. However, when I unbolt the pump from the engine…that Briggs starts and runs like a dream! Just like a modern OHV should. What’s wrong? Should I junk that OEM pump and get a comet, GP, or something??? PLEASE HELP! Canadian tire is NO HELP WHATSOEVER! Neither is the manufacturer. I really like this pressure washer, looks great, awesome features, engine *supposedly* good…
